“In 2018 I decided to retire from professional sport and buy a horse. I used to ride competitively as a child however it had been around 8yrs since I had properly sat on a horse so I knew I would be pretty rusty to say the least! I had met the boys a couple of times through mutual friends and when I was quietly on the lookout an advert popped up on my fb that a friend had tagged me in.
My mum and I went a long with no expectations to see what there was to offer. I went from buying an allrounder to have fun on at local shows to completely exceeding all expectations. We have since jumped fox hunters, qualified for HOYS working hunter and competed in CCI 2* eventing with loads of red rosettes a long the way. I’m by no means a talented horse person but my competitive nature takes over. Everyone that comes across Dalton comments on his talent, movements and pure quality and I have lost count of the amount of times people have approached me to buy him from amateurs to professionals.
Angus and Stephen have been brilliant, not only bringing the amazing Dalton p into my life but they are always on the other end of the phone for advice…5years on! I had honestly never considered buying from a sales yard before, with preconceived ideas, however now I would not go past them! The boys have been trustworthy and approachable with their reputation being very important to them and they are well known for the quality of horses they have to be considered from a range of abilities.

“It’s hard to express how truly amazing my experience has been with the Lohoars. When we first met in 2013, I was a First Year student at St. Andrews, and had barely shown at the 1m level. Throughout the course of my studies, I was lucky enough to lease several horses from them that gave me tremendous confidence and helped me progress. By the time Fourth Year came around, I was jumping clear rounds at the 1.20m level in Vilamoura, Portugal— all thanks to Stephen’s encouraging instruction and the Lohoars’ ability to always find the perfect horse to suit my goals.
My days of riding and showing with the Lohoars are some of my very best memories from Uni, but the story continues! In 2021, they helped me fulfill my lifelong dream of having my own horse by pairing me with Kamalia (Chance): a homebred out of their beloved foundation mare Rumalia, sired by the talented Kannan. I successfully brought her across the pond to New York, where she is a yard favourite. Not only is she bold, scopey, careful and honest, but she’s sensible enough to hack out everywhere and quiet enough for me to box and ship to shows myself. I attribute all of these things to the meticulous way she was raised and broken. She has brought me so much joy, and I can’t wait to see what the future holds!”
